Marangu is a large village located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Marangu is a lively market town with a cool climate. The location of the town makes it an ideal starting point for hiking. At the base of Mt Kilimanjaro, surrounded by lush landscapes, lie hidden waterfalls. After a short drive of about 45mins in a private car to one on the most popular waterfall sites, “Marangu Waterfalls”, it is possible to explore the forest and discover the waterfalls on foot.
The “Marangu Waterfalls” is located on the slope of Mt. Kilimanjaro national park, is also an excellent location for hiking, bird watching and taking in the sights of rural Africa. The cultural tourism program offers the opportunity for visitors to watch traditional blacksmiths, visit nearby caves and waterfalls as well as experience life in the local chagga tribe. People around Marangu village are very welcoming and we hope you will enjoy your time with them. While in Marangu one can learn more about the chagga culture by visiting a traditional chagga house made of straw roofing. Also the traditional food made by bananas and local brew known as Mbege can be tasted.
At the waterfalls, you can even refresh in cool and crystal clean water. Here you will also break for lunch before doing a short tour of Marangu village to see the typical life of local tribe/people.

In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Moshi and head to the village by car (1hr drive) where our guide will start with you at the Chagga Live Museum, where you will get a deep insight in the traditional lifestyle of this agricultural society and also the family history.
Our guide will then lead you through the coffee plantations which will give you the opportunity to learn the process from the tree to the cup and you’re are encouraged to participate in a few physical processes such as roasting fresh coffee beans over the fire. After a fresh cup or two of the famous Arabica coffee we will head for the waterfalls.
Our guide will tell you and point out the fauna and flora of the region as you make your way to the waterfalls after the coffee farms. At the waterfall, you will have lunch prepared by Chagga locals in their traditional methods and utensils such as clay pots etc.
With your belly full and time to spare you may take a plunge in the refreshing waters of the waterfall and enjoy a wonderful swim. In the afternoon, you will be driven to the village of Mamba. This small village is famous for its caves, which were once used to hide the women and children for weeks during the Chagga – Maasai wars
Kilasiya Waterfalls is available in Marangu village, Moshi town. Its water from the rocks is believed to be a medicine used to cure various diseases such as gout, rashes etc. Also, this water is so clean that it can be drunk without boiling. Its water cascades over clusters of rocks at the base to form a natural pool.
Surrounded by a tapestry of coffee and banana trees, Ndoro Waterfall offers a serene oasis in the heart of nature. Renowned for its meandering trek that winds through lush river vegetation, this waterfall is a beloved destination for adventurers seeking a unique and immersive experience
Kinukamori waterfall is found at Marangu where it is 43 km from Moshi urban. It is at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. The waterfall is 4 km away from mount Kilimanjaro entrance gate and 20 minutes’ walk from Marangu town Centre. It is perfect for swimming, or just relaxing and enjoying the refreshing breeze.
