The rich forests of Acacia and Mahogany trees greet you as you enter the national park, setting the tone for what lies ahead. The game drive will last until late in the afternoon, with a short break for a delicious picnic lunch. Buffaloes, giraffes, impalas, baboons, and blue monkeys should all be seen during the game drive.

The tree climbing lions are another highlight of a Lake Manyara safari, although locating them is a matter of chance. Before you depart, ensure you’ve checked our Tanzania Safari Packing List to stay comfortable during game drives.

The shoreline along Lake Manyara becomes pink in the right season with millions of flamingos flocking to the area. Following the game drive, you’ll return to your camp/lodge for a sumptuous meal and a good night’s sleep

  • Accommodation: Mid-range Camp or Lodge inside Serengeti
  • Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After breakfast, travel to the Serengeti National Park via Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing through the lovely high-lying farmlands of Karatu as we leave the highlands and enter the Serengeti National Park, widely known as the “heart of Africa,” As we enjoy our 4-day Tanzania safari, we will be surrounded by boundless plains that stretch as far as the eye can see.

We’ll then drive towards the Seronera in the central serengeti area of the park, which is one of the park’s richest wildlife habitats, thanks to the Seronera River, which serves as a vital water source for the area, drawing a diverse range of wildlife that best symbolizes the Serengeti’s species.

To understand why this is the best time for your visit, consult our guide on the Best Time to Visit Tanzania. We arrive in the Serengeti National Park in time for lunch, and then you go on an afternoon game drive. Your 2nd day will end in the Seronera area where you’ll enjoy dinner and overnight are in a standard lodge.

  • Accommodation: Mid-range Camp or Lodge
  • Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

On day 3 you will go for an early morning wildlife drive in Serengeti National Park followed by a heavy breakfast as we set our sites for the Ngorongoro Crater. Tourists have an option of skipping the morning game drive for a hot air balloon ride. A Serengeti balloon safari is the ultimate way to experience the vastness of the national park (available at supplementary cost by pre-arrangement).

We travel from Serengeti after breakfast for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We’ll make a pit stop in Olduvai Gorge, which has a long history dating back to the beginning of time. The skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man,’ both highly important links in the chain of human development, were discovered here by anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey.

We arrive in time for lunch at your lodgings the crater rim, and after a refreshing meal, we’ll descend 600 meters into the crater for a half-day safari tour to see wildlife.

The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest collapsed volcano crater, measuring fourteen kilometers in diameter and surrounded by natural splendor. The Ngorongoro Crater is ringed by ancient volcanoes, and its floor, filled with watering holes, is home to 30,000 species. The day comes to a close with a fantastic dinner and a restful night’s sleep in your lodging.

  • Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch

You will have an early start on the last day of your safari. After a quick breakfast, you’ll begin an early descend into the crater bottom at roughly 6:30 a.m. The world’s largest inactive, undamaged and unfilled volcanic crater is the Ngorongoro Crater. It has a vast floor area of over 260 square kilometers and a depth of over 2000 feet. The 5-hour game drive on the crater floor will provide plenty of opportunities to see animals in action.

It’s always a good idea to keep the camera handy. Elephants, buffalo, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, and lions can all be found in abundance on a Ngorongoro safari. Following a picnic lunch by the lovely Hippo pool, you will begin a difficult ascent to the crater’s top exit.

This is the final phase of your safari, with a four-hour trip to Arusha remaining. By late evening you will be dropped off at your favorite spot in Arusha or Moshi. This is the time to say your goodbyes to your team after a fantastic adventure and a lifetime of memories.
